Sheelagh Williams

For more than half a century, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, Sheelagh responded "an artist!" She worked on that goal mostly while traveling because work, kids and volunteering filled her time for several decades. Pen and ink sketches of Mayan ruins, bird skeletons on beaches, wildflowers in the tropics all were grist for her mill. After retirement from her day job in 2002, she pursued her goal more actively, starting with watercolor classes in California and then finding her voice in pastels after several workshops with Bruce Gomez, a master of color and composition. More recently Sheelagh has been influenced by Sara Alyn Oakley. Sheelagh continues to enjoy pleine aire painting during the summer and when traveling and camping as it brings an immediacy and intensity to her work. Sheelagh’s work is in private collections across the West.
