At age two, Sharon Marolf's parents moved to China and later when war came too close were evacuated to the Philippines, and finally back to the U.S. Sharon has drawn since old enough to hold a pencil and always had a consuming interest in producing art. She received a BFA Degree, with a minor in art history, from Oklahoma University in 1960, followed by graduate work, and finally taught school art for several years, first in Oklahoma and then Colorado.

Sharon always pursued her own art while teaching and has also done quite a bit of commissioned commercial art, working under her own business label of 'Calli-Graphics', doing free-lance art, advanced calligraphy and lettering, commissioned work for various printers, etc. Her last teaching project was an adult education class through a local college in calligraphy. She also recently produced a demonstration in calligraphy for a local art group.

Lettering is often a component in her art, either as formal calligraphy or free hand drawn lettering. Various original or quoted verbal statements seem to amplify many of the drawn images as integral parts of her pictures. She's also illustrated some of her own original poetry in larger pictures and also in book format.

Sharon Marolf has entered numerous art shows over the years and earned many ribbons, awards, and special awards such as 'People's Choice', 'Best of Professional', and 'Best of Show', through entrants in various categories, but most often in recent years for her Graphics. She belongs to the Colored Pencil Society of America.

Her favorite statement about her art is, "It's akin to breathing for me, something I could never choose to lay aside."
