Roxanne Morris

I was born and raised in the Bronx where I got my RN license. After traveling in Europe, Israel, and Africa for two years, I moved to Colorado, ending up in Glenwood Springs in 1972 where I worked at Valley View Hospital, met my husband, and raised my family.

Art was never a part of my life. I knew that I had no artistic skill or ability. In 1998, I took "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" at Colorado Mountain College. Foolish me! I didn’t realize it was really and truly about drawing—I thought it was about releasing creativity in general. I wept during the first two classes out of frustration and embarrassment. But something must have told me that I was supposed to be there—I never missed a class—and halfway through the semester, something clicked. I had that famous "aha" moment and there was no going back. I continued to take art classes through the college until we moved to Montrose in 2003.

In addition to enjoying the artistic process, I found that the art community in Montrose became one of my primary social connections. I am active in the Montrose Visual Art Guild, which I have found to be incredibly supportive.

And so, a Life Journey. It is safe to say I had no idea that my life would take this turn, but it did, and here I am.
