I started painting in earnest in the mid-1990s. Soon after taking my first art classes I found my true passion: watercolor. From then on I have had the opportunity to paint with many fine artists in workshop settings in wonderful locations here in Colorado and California and I always come away with renewed inspiration and techniques to add to my repertoire.

I am fortunate to have a studio behind my home here in Montrose, CO and it is there I offer workshops in "watercolor basics" and several ongoing classes. Some of my favorite surfaces to paint on are Winsor Newton CP 140, rice paper, clayboard, gessoed paper, watercolor canvas, Bristol board and of course my all-time favorite: YUPO (a synthetic paper.) I am very proud to be the winner of the 2007 Yupo Corporation Designer’s Choice Award. Although my focus is in watercolors, recently I started working in oils and have already received recognition in several shows.

Besides being featured in the San Juan Silver Stage and Montrose Style Magazine, I have received many awards in shows all over the western slope of Colorado. Participating in Montrose’s "Main Street in Motion" (an evening downtown where artist’s and musicians display their talents) has given me many occasions to share my work with lots of locals and visitors. Twice a year I hold a "Student Art Show" for my classes here at my studio. I also have several "Open Studio/Art Sale" events in my studio throughout the year featuring my own work.

I recently published my first children’s book entitled "How Much, Woodchuck?" (A book of ponderings & opposites) which I wrote and illustrated under my pen name, Linda Louise Ashley. I wrote the story in 1996 but wasn’t inspired to complete the illustrations until 2006 when I was encouraged by my family and my grandchildren.

Several of my paintings are on permanent display in the private collections of Alpine Bank, Montrose, CO and Alpine Bank, Durango, CO. When I’m not painting you’ll find me with my kids and grandkids or just hanging out with my dogs.
